Below I compiled a set of pages presenting information on the history of Macedonia. I would only like to add the following personal note:
If you read any of the ancient historians, you will find many proofs that Macedonia was a Greek state of its times, such as the Kingdom of Ipiros or the city-state of Athens and the city- state of Sparta. I love studying ancient authors. In these texts it is written again and again that Alexander the Great was considered a descendant of Achilles, the great Greek warrior of Troy. This is only one example. Here is another one: Tradition explains that the people that eventually formed the Macedonian Kingdom originate from Peloponissos, the Southern part of Greece. I could add more comments on that topic, but instead I will list the following websites, that do the job better:
